Meet Bob Li

What first drew you into EDM production?

I’ve always liked playing instruments and dancing to pop music. Mixing the two just made sense. It’s cool how literally everything is an instrument now.

Almost all of your tracks have a distinct future bass vibe, Care to share more about your creative processes and who inspired your unique style?

I think my “style” just comes from my taste in music. I like listening to different genres, and when I make something I’ll pull different things from each genre and rearrange all the pieces. Even though genres are different, songs I like tend to have a certain realness to them. I don’t really know how to explain it. Like they set a certain mood really well? But yeah I’ll try to get the same feeling in my tracks. Right now all the pieces have been trending towards future bass but I’m sure it’ll evolve as I keep going.

Going through your Instagram we can tell you love being outdoors and you even wield a bow in your sound-cloud profile, Could you tell us more about your other hobbies?

Hahaha yeah let’s see. I’ll usually play some sort of sport or video game when I’m free. When my friends and I are bored of that we’ll just do weird stuff. Carpe diem. My Soundcloud picture happened because we found bows on clearance from Sport Chalet so we went running around shooting dull arrows at trees. I think movie-making and photography are really cool too. They’re not really hobbies, but it’s fun being a fan of people who do stuff like that.

You are one of the most underrated artists we have encountered in the past year, Your remixes are absolute future bass magic and we wonder how you got so good at EDM production in such a short time?

Oh man you guys are too kind. It’s been about 2 years now, and I guess the thing that helped me improve the most was putting my tracks side by side with other songs and realizing how bad mine were. Especially when you’re starting out, it sucks a lot, but it really motivates you to keep going until you’ve made something you’re happy with.

How would you summarize 2017?

Spaceship by Kanye except less angry.

What are your goals for the new year? any upcoming projects we can get excited about?

I just want to make really good music. I have a bunch of dope ideas that are going to turn into remixes and originals, and all of these ideas really push my creativity and production skills. I know I have a lot to learn and I can’t wait to see how much better the music gets this year.
