India’s Own, Meet REVIO

What first drew you into music?

From a very young age, I’ve been very lucky to be around a lot of good Indian music and instruments surrounded by a lot of inspiring musicians who taught me the true value of authentic and organic sounds. This combined with the love for EDM again inspired by artists like Daftpunk, Deadmau5, Troyboi and many others, gave me the idea of fusing both these genres together. So I completed my Dj’ing & Music Production course from a music school, 2 years back, and have been working on this dream ever since and hoping for it to become a reality.

Your track “Swadesi” is absolutely amazing! How did you achieve such a great signature sound in such a short time? Also, what is your creative process like?

Well more than anything, I spend a lot of time looking out for sounds that excite and work with the EDM genre and at the same time,i work to maintain the authenticity and integrity of the instrument. I’m a huge fan of sampling, and I try my best to figure out what combination suits best. For Swadesi, I used instruments like Shehnai, Sitar and Sarod.

Going over your Soundcloud we can tell you love experimenting with new sounds. Can you tell us more about your studio setup and some of your favorite plugins/instruments?

I have a very simple and small setup. I have a pair of Yamaha HS5’s and I produce on Ableton Live. I frequently use plugins like Kontakt, Swarplug, Diva, Sylenth1 and Serum and apart from that rely on a lot of sampling and sound designing techniques. I love working with analog equipment as well, sometimes use the Moog Sub 37.

Your music sounds very organic and authentic. Do you play any real-life instruments?

Unfortunately I don’t play any instrument professionally, but I understand tonality and pitch quite well and I work with that. Apart from that, I’m fortunate to have some great friends who are really good singers/musicians. So hopefully I can incorporate their talent in future projects and create that signature sound.

What are your musical goals for the future?

I love to Dj and look to perform as much as possible. The dream is to be able to play on a big stage and perform for a capacity crowd and also share the stage with the pioneers. On the production front, I look to have more releases and maybe, if possible, collaborate with good artists and musicians.

What are your goals for the coming months? Any upcoming projects we can get excited about?

I’m working on a few tracks, and look to put them out very soon. As mentioned earlier, a lot of vocal recordings and instruments will be incorporated in these productions. So loads of exciting stuff coming out soon. Thank you for the opportunity to share my music on your platform, keep supporting, and stay tuned.
