Meet Naizon

What first drew you into music?

What prompted me to make music was first of all the love I have for it, mostly coming from the fact that my father was somewhat of a musician and has taught me and gave me lots of advice.
I also come from a background as an artists working in musicals as a dancer, singer and actor but I decided that I wanted to entertain people through DJing and playing my own music.

You are one of the best up and coming musicians we have encountered on the internet! And your track “my house” is probably your best track yet! Could you tell us more about the story behind this track?

Absolutely, yes. This track was really created to send a message that I’m a real artist who’s put everything into House music and have a great understanding of it even if I come from a different genre. I don’t want to get too technical but this track took a long time to spread it properly in the DAW in this case (live) – I’ve cut the lyric to the song, with the help of my amazing girlfriend, to make it simpler and more impactful and give more meaning to certain words like “this…is my house”.

Going over your Soundcloud we can tell you love experimenting with new sounds. Can you tell us more about your studio setup and some of your favourite plugins/instruments?

Yes, I love experimenting with new sounds, I try to keep things exciting with effects – when you listen to these tracks in the studio they don’t come out as much as when you play them live in a club, the vibe with the crowd, lights and everything give it a completely different impact.

For my config  I use a Macbook Pro with Ableton Live and O have a Native Instrument keyboard komplete 49 key. I also have two big studio monitors from Mackie hr824 mk2 then at nighttime I use in-ear monitor from Shure and then to finish a sound card from RME a German brand, one of the best for audio interface – dj & producer Sigala uses the same one.

As for plug-ins I use Serum and Sylenth a lot, then as effects I use Shaperbox 2 from Cableguys it’s just fantastic. I also love Fab Filter prod and the limiter pro l and use a lot of standard built-in sound from live like ping pong delay, warm reverb, Ott, One day I wish to do a tutorial with future music! Each of my songs have around 80 tracks between audio and midi.

Your signature sound is already very professional and amazing to listen to! How did you manage to achieve such a professional sound in such a short time? Can you tell us more about your musical background?

My music education was not much more than my standard school lessons in the 90s – we had music lessons like 2 days a week until the third  grade, which mainly consisted of singing songs, learning the basics of music reading and occasionally playing simple instruments. The junior level class included some history of music – we did unity on a couple of classical composers and three pop music units, one on the Beatles, one on Billy Joel. A  while ago I got more into producing my own sounds and playing around with different instruments and software and a couple of years ago, it got serious when I started taking lessons on audio engineering, ever if its just practice and fun.

All of your tracks are very melodic. Do you play any real-life instruments?

I tried taking some piano classes but unfortunately I couldn’t really move my fingers they were practically concrete blocks. I practically never took music theory lessons (even if it was offered), so I don’t know the difference between major and minor chords, or anything like that, but this does not mean that one does not have a good ear and is not able to make music. I use software if I wanted to make arrangements and it is no longer a problem nowadays if you’re not able to do something, resources are out there.

What are your goals for the coming months? Any upcoming projects we can get excited about?

Make more tracks, hopefully get signed to a top label, supported by a worldwide famous DJ and start playing my music in the clubs… Tomorrowland Main Stage is THE GOAL. I want to keep my feet to the ground and be realistic, there’s consistent work that’s needed to reach these targets, but I know I have it in me and I just need to keep pushing and putting my creations out there.
