Meet MOR5ECOD3

What first drew you into music production and Dubstep in particular?

Well, I have always been a gamer, and something about dubstep fits so perfectly with video games. I started making dubstep as a joke, because I thought I would never be any good…I guess I was wrong about that!

“MOR5ECOD3” is a very unique producer name, how did you choose that name? Any special meaning behind it?

Well, I’m kind of a geek, I love computers and tech in general. Morsecode was chosen for a few reasons: how I spell it ( as MOR5ECOD3), nobody else has that name. It also rolls of the tongue nicely. Best of all: it reflects my ideal song, that being very techy sounding.

Your latest EP “Transience” is a great example of how diverse you are as a producer! How did you manage to achieve such a unique sound in such a short time?

Wow, that’s a compliment! Well, I was brought up in a musical family, so music was just a second nature to me. My sound, however, is achieved partly by me being a slacker. I take a pattern that I make with a particular sound that I have also made, and repeat it a few times, but each time, I have an effect changing it up in some way.

“You Lose” is our favorite track from the EP! From its artwork to the Incredibly powerful sound we absolutely love it. Could you tell us more about the story behind this track? Also, what is your creative process like?

Well, it started as an argument with some other producer saying my music wasn’t that good. I made “You Lose” to really prove him wrong. In that track, right before the drop, it says “You have declared your loss”. I feel that that is what was the real driving point of the song was.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

I’ll probably be DJing somewhere. I may get onto a bigger label than I am currently, which is Plusquam Dubstep. In 5 years, I want to get onto either Circus records or Monstercat. I’m hopeful!

What are your goals for the new year. Any upcoming projects we can get excited about?

Well, I’m organizing a special collaboration album with several great artists that I know. I’m really excited about this, so you should be too! All I can say is that I’m going to have some real fun with vocal chopping!
