What first drew you into music production and EDM in particular?

I would say I first got into EDM when I entered my first year of university. A lot of my friends there were listening to it and being in the environment sort of got me into it. I grew up primarily listening to a lot of hip-hop/rap and pop. In that year also, 2015, I went to my first music festival as well and watching Zeds Dead closing out blew me away. I started learning music production from that day forward and since that time, I’ve been exposed too so many different artists and styles of music which has given me different inspirations throughout the years that I use in my music today.

“Kid Kong” is one of the best producer names we have ever heard, how did you choose that name? Any special meaning behind it?

Thank you! Picking a name is always the hardest task, it’s like a tattoo, it’s permanent once you commit to it. There really isn’t any special meaning to it, I found it to be something simple, not too long and pretty catchy so I went with it. I also asked my friends and they thought that name fit me perfectly. They also consider me an animal when it comes to music production as I always take things to a whole new level.

Going over your Soundcloud we can tell you love making lots of different genres! Which genre is your favorite to produce?

I’ve probably dipped into a lot of different genres of music and messed around with it, mixed it around throughout the years. I’m listening to new music every day and usually create something that inspires me that day. Sometimes I’ll have tracks you’ll want to rage to, other times it will be something super chill, that you’d just want to relax and listen, sometimes a bit of both, you never know. As far as favorites, I would say Dubstep and Trap, working on the drums and sound design are always my favorites parts when it comes to music production and both genres heavily rely on it.

Your latest track “Turn up mode” is your best track in our opinion! From its artwork to the Incredibly powerful sound we absolutely love it. Could you tell us more about the story behind this track? Also, what is your creative process like?

Thank you, glad you loved it! I’ve got to say this was probably one of my quickest tracks that I’ve made. This track took about 30 minutes to make, and was created on the train back home to my parents on Thanksgiving (Canadian Thanksgiving).
It started off when I stumbled upon VENMC and his version of Turn Up Mode. He is a super talented lyrical rapper, and I just messaged him and asking if he want to collaborate and make a bass heavy version of Turn Up Mode, and the rest is history.

What are your musical goals for the future?

Right now, I’m completing a lot of old projects I started and never got around finishing. My goal is to finish a lot of these by the end of 2018. As for future goals, I want to explore different styles, go outside the whole electronic music genres see if I can put a twist of my sound into other genres. I also want to establish a signature sound that when people hear my music out there they can be like “Hey this sounds like a new Kid Kong track”.

What are your goals for 2019? Any upcoming projects we can get excited about?

I have singles scheduled out till June 2019, and always working on new content everyday! Most of them are singles, and a few remixes that I’ve done in between. I scrap almost 99% of the projects I make so it is tough to say what I can get you excited for but the ones I keep, and release are the ones I get excited about. I also just released a new remix of XXXTENTACION & Lil Pump track “Arms Around You” on my Soundcloud! I release an EP or something sometime next year, but nothing confirmed yet but I will definitely keep you all posted on my socials!
