Zane Lowe Leaves BBC: HBT In Mourning

Bittersweet news for all Zane Lowe fans out there: after a staggering 12 years of broadcasting at BBC Radio 1, the award-winning DJ will be moving on to Apple. It’s not yet clear what exactly Lowe’s going to be doing with Apple, but we know it’s bound to be something great. DJ Annie Mac, host of her eponymous show on the BBC, will be taking his place.

Lowe is known in part for having interviewed many big names in music. He’s spoken to Kanye West, Chris Martin, and Eminem, just to name a few people. Lowe’s also known for his ‘Masterpieces’ segment, where he dedicates one month of every year to albums that he considers to be classics. He’s had anything from Led Zeppelin IV to The Black Album on there.

Lowe was sure to express his gratitude to the BBC and all his fans. “I want to thank everyone at Radio 1 for their support and friendship,” he said in his press statement. It’s a sad day for the BBC, and for fans of Lowe’s work, but we can rest easy knowing that he’s onto bigger, and hopefully better things.
