Young & Hungry: Discover Alex Weit

Alex Weit, a rising Swedish DJ/producer, is unquestionably one of HBT’s artists to watch in 2015. He’s known throughout his circles for coining his own signature sound—melodic progressive house—the conception of which is due in part to the great influence of artists like Axwell, Ingrosso, Alesso, and Dimitri Vangelis & Wyman on his early musical musings. He consistently differentiates himself from other acts in the industry by focusing on creating unique melodies that can’t be found anywhere else. The young artist was tracked down by HBT’s resident Swede, and we couldn’t be happier with our discovery. 

The Stockholm-native started his career back in 2011, and basically hasn’t left his studio since then. He’s spent the past few years working on track after track—although never sacrificing quality—and plans to spend 2015 doing just that. He’ll be releasing a few original songs in the next few months, and a collaboration with the Norwegian producer Years (which we’re trembling with excitement for).

In other news, we’d like to give Alex a shout-out for being an incredibly philanthropic DJ. His latest release, Shine Like The Stars, was featured in the “House for Kids” charity EP, meaning all the money generated by his track will be donated to a Swedish organization whose mission is to fight childhood cancer. Encouraging you all to purchase something usually goes against our “good music for all” mindset, but if you’re looking to up your good karma, we recommend buying the album.
