Your latest track leave with you is a unique Progressive track with distinct tropical house vibes. This is the first time we have heard a producer merging these two genres together. Care to share more about your creative processes.
One fine day, I was playing around the piano, looking for a melody when one melody caught my attention. I couldn’t remember what I played so I tried to play the 2nd version of the melody. But trust me, the original version was way better than the second version! So I gave up and started working on the second version of the melody which is the “Leave with you” melody. The process of creating this track was simply layering lots of layers and since I wanted the song to be more powerful, I added a very strong guitar synth into it. And also, before layering it with other instruments, I played Leave with you’s melody from start to finish on the piano. That way, I could hear what was missing from the melody.
In the spirit of the last question what is the story behind “leave with you” and how did you think of this incredible combination of genres?
The story behind this song is actually kind of a sad story but I’ll tell you the reason why I have created “Leave with you”. In 2016, when my father passed away on December 21st, (I was just a 15 years old boy at that time), I thought there was no more hope left in me. So I started partying non-stop and skipping production class everyday until my parents were so fed up with my lifestyle. I didn’t know what to do with my life at that point of time. I thought that by drinking everyday and partying non-stop, I could get away with the pain. But I was wrong, until I saw my family crying in pain because of my habits. So I told myself I really had to stop this before it goes any further. After a few months had passed, I got better, my family also got better, so then, I created this song of my experience in the past. I thought about this combination of genres after a few months had passed, after my father passed away, I wanted to make one last strong yet calm track just for my father. So that’s how “Leave with you” was created.
Your other track “Alone” is another great example of incredible creativity and production skills. We can tell that you are not a new comer when it comes to production and wonder when you started producing music? Also what drew you into it in the first place?
I took interest in music since I was in high school. It all happen when one friend of mine introduced me to this track called “Animals”. At first, I wasn’t really too interested about this track because all it had was noise. But as I listen to it many times, I suddenly grow more fond of this track. So I told my parents that I wanted to take up production class. So they let me. I dropped out of high school in 2013 and went for production class in 2013. It was only until then in 2016, I started producing my own music.
Coming from Kuala Lumpur do you have any favorite clubbing spots?
I only have one favourite clubbing spot in Kuala Lumpur which is Play in Bandar Utama. I don’t usually go to clubs that often because I will be very busy in my studio writing lyrics and producing music.
Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
I don’t really know where this path will bring me but I hope that I could play in festivals! That would be my biggest dream of all.
What are your goals for the future? Any upcoming projects we can get excited about?
My goal in my carrier is to be the best producer and dj for everyone. I want to make everyone happy just by listening to my song. I know it won’t be an easy task but I will keep moving forward. And I will still keep making quality music! There’s a song that I’m currently working on which is called “Nothing last forever”. It will soon be release sometime next month. It’s a progressive track and I think this is the best track that I’ve created! The lyrics of this song that I’m currently working on has mixed emotions inside. It all depends on how you interpret it. So I hope you guys will really look forward to this project!
