What first drew you into music production and Bass music in particular?
Well, I actually started making music back when the song ‘Levels’ by Avicii was all over the place, sounds funny but that was the track that dragged my attention to music production. After some time I realized I could create more crazy or creative patterns and melodies with bass music which I started enjoying listening to. People like Diplo, Ookay, NGHTMRE, Slander, Dillon Francis, Valentino Khan, Victor Niglio and Rawtek are still an influence for me in the style of music I’m trying to make.
Going over your Soundcloud we can tell you love producing bass heavy music, However, we have never heard bass music quite like you make it, Could you tell us more about how you managed to achieve your sound?
I always try to get influenced by a lot of styles and mix them all in one track, that could go from listening to some classical music to some huge electronic festival bangers, I do have my own “signature” sounds and I’m always trying to implement them in my tracks, we are in a time where its really hard to make something original and special, every day you need to find the way to innovate.
Your latest track “Final stage” is very well mixed and mastered and would play very well in clubs and festivals, did you ever DJ your music at a club? Do you plan to play your music live?
Thanks, I’ve been focused on improving my mixing and mastering skills last year and this track is proving that so I’m glad that you feel the same. I have played in a few minor stages for the moment as I’m trying to focus more on learning a lot about the sound engineering part of this music world. I do plan to play my own tracks live soon but I’m sending them to different DJs, artists, and labels first. Who knows? You could wake up tomorrow and be playing in some of the biggest stages and festivals in the world.
You are the owner of Toothless records, how is it like running a record label? What did you learn from it?
It’s harder that one could think. It started as an idea I had for a long time and later my fellow producer friend AVNGR joined me and since then we are trying to scout the best young artists out there who want to showcase their work.
2017 has just passed, how would you summarize 2017? Did it turn out the way you expected it to?
Honestly, it didn’t work out the way I expected due to some personal issues but I have to say I gained so much respect from close music producers, artists and more importantly my family and friends. I was living in Barcelona, Spain but I had to go back to my home country Bolivia because things didn’t end up well for me, I was back at home for 6 months and I joined a project called “Cris&Dani”, two young talented artists who wanted me to work with them, we had a lot of live shows at that time, we managed to leave a huge impact there so we are really proud of that. Later on, I moved back to Barcelona expecting to get close to the European music scene and try to learn as much as I can from this experience.
2018 has just began, what are your goals for the new year? Any upcoming projects we can get excited about?
Of course, I have big plans for this year. Last year I realized I was kind of tired to be labeled just as an “electronic music producer” so I’m now getting an Audio Engineering degree here so I can create new styles and explore more music genres, I always want to learn more and more about the music production world and also get to know more people from it. Personal projects and collaborations with different artists are on the way and you might expect a new album as well. A new song with Cris&Dani is coming soon under the name “Boomerang” and I can tell you it’s going to be huge.
