All Festivals, Great & Small: Igloofest

Notably one of the most adored events in Canada, Igloofest is Montreal’s annual music festival held during the months of January through February. Located in the Old Port, the sheer expansiveness of the fest is enough to light up the entirety of the area and shake the icy ground with its epic lineup of DJs and performers.

First premiering in January of 2007, the event has brought in local Montrealers and international EDM enthusiasts alike to compile a total audience of over 74,000 people for its 9th edition in 2015. This year’s fest took place over 4 weeks, a total of 12 nights, to bring the party city really impressive performances from the artists Cassey, Detroit Swindle, Dubfire, Oliver Heldens, Justin Martin, Midland, and Paul Woolford, amongst others. The experience had spectators talking about these DJs for days, leaving the fest-goers with a truly special evening.

Co-producers Piknic Electronik and the Quays of the Old Port set up a striking stage for the city’s most talked about event. With the igloo village’s ice theme decor, architectural projections, local and international DJs, bars, poutine–You’re sure to fulfil all your Montreal tourist cravings while listening to their curated lineup.

If you didn’t have a chance to make it this year, don’t worry–Each year of Igloofest seems to get more and more impressive. If the famously hot Montreal attendees and fluorescent one-piece winter wear is your thing, then this memorable music fest is just another reason to look forward to winter. Pick up your Igloofest toque next January/February and be part of one of the most epic Canadian events!
