I think I was around 6 years old when I first heard Chris Brown’s music, he was the first artist that caught my attention at a very young age so I knew from then I wanted to do what he does. Also, as a kid my mother used to play a lot of Bob Marley and my dad would play every type of genre, he really had no limits as to which genre to listen to so I think that influenced me as well.
Listening to your music we can tell you love incorporating interesting new sounds and techniques within each track! What inspires you to experiment and evolve?
I feel like my inspiration to experiment and evolve is that I always want to be unique and stand out, I don’t think I would’ve been noticed if it wasn’t for being different in my sound.
It seems like you already found your signature sound 😊 Do you have any tips for upcoming musicians that can’t seem to find their own sound?
My advice to any upcoming musicians out there is to keep it real with themselves, keep an open mind and experiment a lot because in music you won’t know you can make a particular sound until you open your mind to experiments, but the main thing is BE YOURSELF.
Your track “legion” is your best track in our opinion! From its artwork to the Incredibly powerful sound we absolutely love it. Could you tell us more about the story behind this track? Also, what is your creative process like?
To be honest I don’t have a story, however when I started this beat I was actually experimenting on a new way to merge chopped samples and melodies I made from scratch, also wanted to try something with a hard bass so I did… Spent 4 hours on it and dropped it on my birthday. When it comes to my creative process it’s never a routine, I just play samples and hope to come across one that will hit my head in a way that it will fill me with creativity, I guess.
What are your musical goals for the future?
My goals are to expand musically and get my name out there as well as the crew’s name (Crystal MALEFACTORZ) by making music that will reach different parts of the mind and evoke emotions and feelings; I also want to see myself working with huge artists such as Smino, Flatbush Zombies, Willow Smith and Gorillaz.
What do you have planned for the coming months? Any upcoming projects we can get excited about?
I really can’t say yet but I plan on reaching more people and working hand in hand with more creatives, I got a few projects I want to put out on my SoundCloud in January 2020 just to introduce the different side of my music. Be sure to look out for Crystal MALEFACTORZ; do make your friends who love music conscious too.
