What first drew you into music production and Ambient in particular?
Growing up I listened to all types of genres, which led to my discovery of my love for Electronic! I remember one day a friend showing me Skrillex back when He dropped “Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites.” I knew I needed to make music! I downloaded a trial version of FL 9 at the time, and just went to town! My love for Ambient came with Monstercat in 2012, when they dropped their 6th Album the first song in the album was “Ephixa – Trance Chords.” Trance Chords build up always gave me chills from how atmospheric it was! So recently In the last year, I decided to just give it a try! Why not have more experience in different things?
Your signature sound reminds us of the sound of some of the greatest Ambient producers in the world (The orb, Brian eno etc). How did you manage to achieve such a professional sound in such a short time? Can you tell us more about your musical background?
I feel like sometimes there are moments right before bed that my Mind is still going, and everything within me wants to make something great. Sometimes this is happening at 2:30 in the morning, but this is always when I am at my most creative. So I sit down and just try and make something abnormally different than my usual projects. Lately, it was achieving this pad sound, that has REALLY enabled flow in my mind! I believe it was that breakthrough of sound design that did it. I grew up with a Dad who loved all music. No matter what genre it was, he could listen to something long enough and appreciate things within it, and that quality has definitely been ingrained in me.
Going over your Soundcloud we can tell you love making lots of different genres! Which genre is your favorite to produce?
I’m still in the learning stages of Orchestration, but I am working towards becoming more Unique in making Cinematic Tracks! I love the emotion that can be placed behind every single instrument, so experimenting is fun right now! Johann Johannson is probably my biggest inspiration for making this Genre as well.
Your latest track “The Start of Intimacy” is your best track in our opinion! Could you tell us more about the story behind this track? Also, what is your creative process like?
Thank you! I have been trying to discover myself lately, and with it what I want to achieve with my music. I have been away from my Friends, and Family a lot lately and I just felt sort of empty before making the song. One night a few days ago I just felt so anxious. It was 2 in the morning and I just wanted to sleep my feelings away. After 30 minutes of tossing and turning, I told myself, maybe it’s time to make something soulful. I made the initial pad sound from scratch, and flow just started! From 2:38 to 3:42 I had finished putting it all together, and just uploaded it. I knew others would love it, when I was crying making it. It’s my heart poured out! My creative process? Honestly all over the place! I never truly start a song the same way, except for playing the piano first to find what I want the melody to be. I just sort of…put stuff together.
What are your musical goals for the future?
I want to bring my stories, and experiences out for others to hear. Not through words (Usually), but an interpretation of sound. My true end goal, is to give someone even in the darkest moments that 3 minutes of hope they have been searching for, for years. Even if it’s temporary maybe that moment internally could shift all thinking. I want people to be alive, and to continue to live, and to learn to live. I also believe in God, and I would love to see people come to know him through my creation. 🙂
What are your goals for the summer? Any upcoming projects we can get excited about?
I have several Ambient Tracks in the works now, and several Orchestral projects! I have a few Electronic tracks in the works, but those are on the back burner for a little bit, while I work on the conveyance of my life, and experiences in the atmospheric realm. Stay tuned. 🙂
