Electro’s NRMCORE

What first drew you into music? 

I’ve always had a deep love for music. The first school project I can remember was open-ended and instead of doing a report I wrote a song (it was about erosion). 

By highschool I was so infamous for constantly wearing headphones that friends knew they would have to tap on my shoulder to get my attention. It wasn’t long before I started making my own stuff and NRMCORE was born. 

You are one of the best up and coming musicians we have encountered on the internet! And your track “Mumble Mouth” is probably your best track yet! Could you tell us more about the story behind this track?

The goal with Mumble Mouth was to create track that mirrored the struggle for self-expression when something important is actually on the line. I think most people have had the experience of waiting for the right moment to speak and then getting tongue-tied when it arrives.

Going over your Soundcloud we can tell you love experimenting with new sounds. Can you tell us more about your studio setup and some of your favorite plugins/instruments?

Ableton is my DAW of choice and I have a couple of keyboards, mics, and other midi controllers set up.  I’ll probably start adding some analog equipment soon since there’s no better way to spend money than on music gear. 

My favorite plugin of all time probably has to be Serum! If you know how it’s guts work, there’s almost no sound you can’t make. 

Your signature sound is already very professional and amazing to listen to! How did you manage to achieve such a professional sound in such a short time? Can you tell us more about your musical background?

There’s a saying that when the student is ready the teacher will appear. When I started to take music seriously, I had the good fortune to connect with some really talented producers, DJ’s, and audio engineers who exposed me to the possibilities of current music production. There’s also never been more content online for an aspiring producer!

I’ve been playing musical instruments since elementary school and used to make beats with a cracked version of FL Studio in junior high. After spending years listening almost solely to Hip Hop I  went to my first rave, and as they say, the rest of the story is history.

All of your tracks are very melodic. Do you play any real-life instruments? 

Piano. When I’m not in Ableton you can usually find me behind a keyboard. Despite how glitchy a lot of my stuff is, I spend most of my time practicing classical music (Bach is my favorite). I used to play guitar and sax and one of these days I’ll probably add at least one of those back to the mix.

What are your goals for the coming months? Any upcoming projects we can get excited about?

One of my goals is to place a song with a major label and publish some music that I’ve been working on with  incredibly talented vocalists.
