The both of us were exposed to music from a very early age. Giuliano’s dad was in a metal band which sparked his interest for the drums, and from there he began his venture into producing his own music. Similarly with Dejan, participating in Jazz band at a young age grew his passion for music early on.
You are one of the best up and coming musicians we have encountered on the internet! And your track “To The Top” is probably your best track yet! Could you tell us more about the story behind this track?
Thank you! “To The Top” has a bit of a funny backstory actually. I had sent the first demo of the track to Dejan before we had even met for the first time. Dejan was excited about it and that was the birth of our friendship! We had no idea that a few years later we would be best friends making music together and finally releasing this track as a duo!
Going over your Soundcloud we can tell you love experimenting with new sounds. Can you tell us more about your studio setup and some of your favorite plugins/instruments?
Coming from 2 producers making 2 separate genres, there was bound to be experimentation in our joint music projects. Surprisingly though, our setups are very simple! Giuliano on FL Studio, and Dejan is in Ableton Live. KRK and Yamaha Studio Monitors with a pair of headphones, and that’s our setup! Nothing fancy, but it gets the job done. Our favorite plugins would definitely have to be Xfer Serum, Camel Crusher and Valhalla Room! 3 plugins we simply cannot produce without.
Your signature sound is already very professional and amazing to listen to! How did you manage to achieve such a professional sound in such a short time? Can you tell us more about your musical background?
Although it may seem like a short time, the both of us have been in this industry for almost 7 years. In that time, we have built up the knowledge and network to help launch No Thanks properly. For the both of us, combining both of our production skills definitely helped contribute to our “signature sound” but we are definitely still experimenting!
All of your tracks are very melodic. Do you play any real-life instruments?
Piano, Drums, and believe it or not, but Dejan played this really weird instrument called the “Baritone Euphonium” back in his band days! Its like a mini tuba.. haha!
What are your goals for the coming months? Any upcoming projects we can get excited about?
We’ve got a stack of unrelease records to drop that we are so excited about! The goal for the coming months is definitely to get all of them out there for the listeners. We have a couple really cool collaborations and remixes for artists that we look up to on the way, so keep an eye out for that! There is a lot more of No Thanks to come!
