Around the age of 7 my mother enlisted me into a band program in my once elementary school PS 287 . From then on i played for other bands throughout middle school and highschool , around the time being in middle school i had gone through a bit of a bullying experience which added to my once extreme shyness , so i used music as a scapegoat to deal with how i felt.
You are one of the best up and coming musicians we have encountered on the internet! And your track “One & Only” is probably your best track yet! Could you tell us more about the story behind this track?
Why thank you ! One & Only was actually inspired by Chris Brown’s “ with you “ & Raphel Saadiq’s “ Ask of You “ . I held onto this song for months , the song actually isn’t about anyone , I just woke up one day and was in the mood for early 90’s / 2000’s music. That was the sound I grew up on as a little kid. i produced and cut up the samples in my home studio which only took about a day but for months i couldn’t find out what to write about because i wasn’t in love , to be quite honest i was tired of love songs but my fans had been asking me to make more records like my older single “ Boo Thang “. It took a while but i eventually found the emotion and lyrics for the song around the time I went on tour last November. Once I got back to NYC i went back to the studio that same week and finished the record.
Going over your Soundcloud we can tell you love experimenting with new sounds. Can you tell us more about your studio setup and some of your favorite plugins/instruments?
My studio is very simple , I have 2 JBL monitors , 1 Scarlett interface , an AKG P120 Mic & Logic Pro X My favorite plugins to use are WavesTunes Real Time & autofit filter. These two plugins contribute to my songs the most since I’ve been becoming more melodic.
Your signature sound is already very professional and amazing to listen to! How did you manage to achieve such a professional sound in such a short time? Can you tell us more about your musical background?
Developing my sound took some time , if you listen back to my records before my break out hit “ Floating “ you’ll hear a complete different Kae $oul . My top 2 biggest inspirations are Lil Uzi Vert & J Cole , in which you can definitely hear the influence from both artists in my music. There was actually a point in time where I never used autotune or any real heavy effects on my voice but I never noticed how powerful my voice was until I started messing around with it in the studio , using different sound effects , different types of autotune , plugins etc … it was a journey i’ll never forget because i loved every minute of it.
All of your tracks are very melodic. Do you play any real-life instruments?
Yes ! I’ve been playing piano for almost 10 years as well as saxophone but I haven’t really picked up my horn in about 2 years . Most of the melodies you hear in my tracks are me on my keyboard
What are your goals for the coming months? Any upcoming projects we can get excited about?
For the next upcoming months, I hope to see myself just continuously progressing and working with all the big artists whom i’ve looked up to over the years . I do plan to drop my awaited “ Series 2.0 “ EP , which is a remastered HD studio quality version of my older hits from 2018 – 2019 . Fans are already excited about “ FLOATING 2.0 ” so I can’t wait to hit them with the rest.
