Meet JUNKY MAAN

What first drew you into music and rap/hip-hop in particular?

Since I was a kid I’ve always loved songs that you could bounce your head to, especially with deep bass. I was also heavily inspired by the style of rappers, I think it’s the overall vibe of the rap culture that dragged me into it.

Your track “whodat boy” is very modern and the lyrics are amazing! How did you achieve such a great signature sound in such a short time? Also, what is your creative process like?

It was very easy for me to write and record “whodat boy” because of the beat which I absolutely fell in love since the first time I checked it out. Actually, the sample of police radio that appears throughout the beat, inspired me to come up with the adlib “Copy copy, It’s Junky” that I also used on “GAANG!” and will be appearing in some of my upcoming projects.

If you could work with any artist who would that be?

If I could work with anyone it would probably be Wiz Khalifa. I’m a fan of him for a long time now, I especially love the way he uses guitar, drums and live instruments during his concerts. I think it’s very unique for a rapper to do.

You have recently released a track titled “GAANG!”. The track is a modern Hip-hop/Trap fusion and we wonder if you plan to release more Reggae sounding tracks in the future?

I’m actually heavily into reggae music and you’ll surely find some rasta vibes on my upcoming EP.

What are your goals for the new year, any upcoming projects we can get excited about?

I’m currently working on my first EP with my producer Cuzco, I’m also planning to release first music videos very soon. New single “King Kong” will be dropping anytime soon. Many projects soon to be released, stay tuned.
