What first drew you into music?

Well I’ve always really been into music, my mom played lots of music throughout the house as I was growing up. A lot of my family sung too, so I just kind of grew up around it.

Your track “from life” is absolutely amazing! How did you achieve such a great signature sound in such a short time? Also, what is your creative process like?

Thank you! While I wouldn’t consider my music as having a “signature sound” honestly, it really all just comes from me trying to make music that I’ve never really heard anyone else making before. I enjoy listening to a lot of different styles of music, so I guess my music that I make is something of a concoction of all the ideas and inspiration I get from listening to music just throughout my day. It hasn’t been an insanely short period of time that my music came together as what it is now, either. It’s just that “existic” as an alias is only a few years old. I started producing when I was 11, so it’s been a little over 7 years making music now. And I’ve made a few different genres within that time just kind of experimenting with different sounds and trying to practice different skill sets. In my music I really have just come to focus a lot on the details, and how the song itself makes the listener feel, so it can be more of an entire experience that leaves an imprint instead of just a song. Most of my creative process is really spontaneous. A lot of my music starts out from me just humming a melody randomly and thinking it sounds nice, or maybe hearing a certain rhythm of an instrument in a song I’m listening to that gives me an idea for a drum rhythm or something like that. But all in all when I’m working on a project I just try to make something that I would want to listen to listen to as a listener.

Going over your Soundcloud we can tell you love experimenting with new sounds. Can you tell us more about your studio setup and some of your favorite plugins/instruments?

I just make music in my bedroom. For the majority of the time that I’ve been making music my setup has been really simple, like just a laptop hooked up to my TV, and I would make music just using my television speakers. I just recently got some pretty nice studio monitors so I’ve upgraded a bit now, and I have a pair of ATH-M50X’s for headphone reference when I need it.  One of the main things that I like doing in my music is taking instruments and sounds and processing them/manipulating them into different ways to sounds different than they originally did, and using that as a new instrument in itself. So that how I get a lot of the abstract noises and instruments throughout a lot of my songs. But when I do synthesize pads, plucks and basses I really enjoy using Operator, Massive, and different Kontakt libraries for the real instrument elements in my music.

Your music sounds very organic and authentic. Do you play any real-life instruments?

I played cello from 5th grade to my sophomore year in high school, and I‘ve tried playing guitar a bit but I’m not that great at it. I’ve studied music theory a little bit over the years so that’s absolutely helped a ton with the musicality of my songs, but the rest of it is really just me going along with what I think sounds good at the moment, I try to follow my gut feeling as best I can and then build on to that.

What are your musical goals for the future?

Well I want to stay making music for the rest of my life or as long as I’ll be able to. I don’t really have any specific goals in mind for the future though. I hope that more and more people hear and enjoy my music over time, but that’s just something extra that would be amazing. Making music is what makes me happy though, so as long as I get to continue to do that throughout my life I’ll be good.

What are your goals for the coming months? Any upcoming projects we can get excited about?

I’m working currently on switching and becoming a full vocal artist instead of just being a “producer”, so that’s what will be taking up the majority of the coming months for me. I already have a few songs finished for this new project and a few in the works so I just plan on continuing creating and sometime next year you will hear some new music coming out that I personally believe to be my some of my best work.
