The same primal instinct that draws everyone into music. As long as I can remember dancing and music and rhythm were a part of me. When I was a kid I was always dancing to the music that was around me. This naturally progressed as my love for dance music, and led to my search to find more danceable beats.
Listening to your music we can tell you love incorporating interesting new sounds and techniques within each track! What inspires you to experiment and evolve?
I try to make all the styles of music that I enjoy listening to so this forces me to constantly be trying new techniques, samples, tempos and structure. Pushing myself to make better more compelling music often forces new ideas and approaches.
It seems like you already found your signature sound Do you have any tips for upcoming musicians that can’t seem to find their own sound?
Patience. Discipline. Confidence. – Good ideas to focus on in general and when applied to finding an artist’s sound it comes down to: Have the patience to absorb absolutely everything, the discipline to be honest with yourself about what is real and worthwhile to you, and confidence that what you do find in your own heart is authentic and worth something to you and the world.
Your track “My New Weapon” is your best track in our opinion! From its artwork to the Incredibly powerful sound we absolutely love it. Could you tell us more about the story behind this track? Also, what is your creative process like?
“My New Weapon” and the whole “Heavy Weapons” EP was sketched in a few sessions, I like to think of music making like painting. First I make or find sounds I want to use and arrange them in a “sound pallet” then I sketch out a few drop ideas. I’ll take the sketches that are worthwhile and put them into their own projects where I can fill in verse ideas and eventually finish out the song. I had to take a break on this EP to work my Ski Instructing job for the winter and it wasn’t until early this summer that I thought to add the Heavy vocals in. I was excited to find that the vocal worked perfectly and have been polishing / mixing/ mastering the songs over the summer for their fall releases.
What are your musical goals for the future?
My musical goal is to inspire those who have inspired me. I want my music to make an impact on people the same way that music has impacted me in my life. A constant positive force that has enabled me to find myself, friendships and my humanity. Music is an intrinsic part of the human experience and I wish to harness it to inspire people to be their best self.
What do you have planned for the coming months? Any upcoming projects we can get excited about?
I am extremely excited to be releasing the next three songs off the “Heavy Weapons” EP! Considering the amount of success and positive feedback from “My New Weapon” I am ecstatic to keep this momentum going with three more tunes. Check the next releases “Man vs. Machine” on 10/1 and “Russian Toothfairy Princess” on 10/30.
