All Festivals, Great & Small: The Weekend

The Finnish event taking the EDM world by storm, “The Weekend” festival is probably one of the best experiences 100 euros can buy you. It’s seriously one of the best up and coming music fests, so keep reading if you’re intrigued by the complete magic of this three year old house music event. 

Located in Finland’s capital area, Helsinki, The Weekend takes place mid-August annually. With an audience that has been over 40,000 people since its debut in 2012, you can imagine they must have quite the lineup to attract such a large amount of Finnish and international music lovers alike. Featuring legends such as David Guetta, Skrillex, Axl Smith, OFWGKTA, Sebastian Ingrosso, and Breathe Carolina, simply in its first year, the festival has amassed the attention and respect of critics world-wide. With that being said, the event was voted as the Best Summer Festival in 2013 by the listeners of Finnish radio station Ylex, has been nominated for Best Festival Award in Music & Media Industry Awards in 2013, as well as being nominated for the Best Medium-Sized Festival in 2013 at the European Festival Awards.

If that’s not enough hype to get you checking out tickets for this festival, they’ve also featured really cool visual themes for the past two years. 2013 brought the Space and Future theme, while 2014 took on the Electro Disco vibe. Pair that with some sick DJ sets, and this is bound to be an epic weekend.

This year takes place between August 7-8th, and while no theme has been announced as of yet, you can rely on their awesome lineup. David Guetta, Avicii, Brennan Heart, Armin van Buuren, Hardwell, Darude, Infected Mushroom, Robin Schulz and Wasted Penguinz are amongst the most anticipated performances this year. Combine that with the best local talent and you’re guaranteed to have a really great time.
