Cocaine Model – ZHU

When it comes to thriving newcomers, L.A-based producer ZHU is definitely one to keep an eye on. ZHU’s Nightday EP, which included the popular releases: Faded and Paradise Awaits, is a perfect example of skilled musical production. Cocaine Model, our favourite track from the EP, would render absolutely anyone speechless. ZHU takes simplicity to a whole new level in the song, starting off with mysterious yet soulful vocals and combining them with techy synths, creating a chill vibe for the listener. The synths then transcend into a groovy bass-line, replete with deep beats. The track as a whole is nearly impossible to categorize, as the artist manages to extract some of the best elements from each EDM sub-genre and combine them to create a wonderful single. “Music is faceless” is ZHU’s motto, and Cocaine Model undoubtedly embodies this.
